Francisco Turrubiartes Campos, originally from Monterrey, Mexico, is a recent graduate with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. During his undergrad, Francisco served on multiple committees and clubs focused on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. As president and board member of the Undergraduate Math Council (UMC) for four years, Francisco was able to work closely with the department to host events promoting EDI in addition to being the main bridge between the department and the student body. In addition, Francisco served on the Math Department’s EDI Committee for three years, being able to be the voice for undergrad students. His senior year, he had the honor of taking part in the Student Advisory Board (SAB) for the Physical Sciences Department where he was even able to give a speech to the board of the physical sciences department on all the work that the SAB has done over the years.
Having been a tutor all throughout high school, Francisco wished to continue this during his time at UCLA. Francisco became a Learning Assistant (LA) for Math 32A and even taught an algebra class at a local high school once a week through CalTeach. Moreover, Francisco had the pleasure of being a Peer Learning facilitator (PLF) for the Athletics department this past year where he worked closely with student-athletes to ensure their success inside the classroom.
