B.S. Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2024
Cameron Petrusevski is a first-generation college student and cancer survivor who earned his B.S. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences with a minor in Film, Television, and Digital Media from UCLA. Before attending UCLA, Cameron played collegiate volleyball at Saint Xavier University where he studied Chemistry and Communications. During this time, he also was diagnosed with and underwent treatment for Leukemia.
Throughout his undergraduate years, Cameron raised funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to go towards cancer research. A recipient himself, he also raised money for the Cancer for College Organization, which provides scholarships to young cancer survivors determined to pursue higher education despite their adversity. He is now a master’s student in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, where his research focuses on science communication; developing innovative ways to connect complex climate and weather research with the public through immersive storytelling and media production.
Cameron also serves as the Co-Chair of Outreach for the UCLA chapter of Chi Epsilon Pi, the national atmospheric sciences honors society that aims to connect students, faculty, and the broader community through educational and engagement initiatives. Passionate about blending science and creativity, he is excited to keep pushing towards his own goals while sharing that same sense of curiosity and possibility with others along the way.
