Benjamin Paul
Director of Communications
I bring more than a decade of experience in higher education communications, with a focus on STEM disciplines. My understanding of research universities, however, extends well beyond professional training. I grew up immersed in the UC system, shaped by the culture, language, and internal dynamics of academic life. As a result, I understand not only how universities communicate — but how they actually function.
As Director of Communications for the UCLA Division of Physical Sciences, I lead strategy and narrative development across a research portfolio that includes quantum science, climate and Earth systems research, chemistry, mathematics, data science, and health-related innovation. I collaborate daily with faculty leaders, research centers, advancement teams, students, and university administration to position high-impact research within the broader ecosystems of federal funding, philanthropy, industry partnership, and institutional reputation.
